Ég hef lítið hlustað á tónlist undanfarið ár, af einhverri ástæðu. iPodinn sem ég var alltaf með á mér tók að gleymast öðru hvoru og svo var ég farinn að skilja hann eftir heima.
Nýlega hef ég aftur farið að hlusta á tónlist eins mikið og ég get. Ég hlusta mest á tónlist sem ég kynntist núna þegar ég eltist, t.d. Elton John (já, ég kynntist honum fyrst núna fyrir svona fimm mánuðum), ISIS, Amy Winehouse, Emiliana Torrini, Justin, DFA1979, The White Stripes og sérstaklega Derek And The Dominos ásamt einhverjum lögum völdum af handahófi.
Þarna í listanum er ekki Pink Floyd og ekki solo Eric Clapton. Seinustu tvö árin hef ég lítið sem ekkert hlustað á þessa tvo flytjendur, og það er alveg að fara með mig. Ég veit ekki af hverju ég hef vaxið svona frá þeim. Þeir voru nánast þeir einu sem ég hlustaði á þegar ég var lítill þangað til ég náði 14 ára aldri. 24 Nights og The Wall eru líklega þeir diskar sem ég hef mest spilað. Þegar ég fór til útlanda tók ég með mér geislaspilarann minn, þessa tvo diska með og einhverjar bækur. Meira þurfti ég ekki til að lifa af þriggja tíma flugferðir. Ég hef ekki hlustað á 24 Nights í einhver ár.
Núna sit ég í tíma að skrifa ritgerð með The Wall í eyrunum (er reyndar að hlusta á Is There Anybody Out There? útgáfuna, tónleikaútgáfu). Mikið djöfull er þessi diskur sjúklega fokking geðveikur. Þetta er minn all-time uppáhaldsdiskur. In The Flesh, The Thin Ice, Run Like Hell, Mother, Goodbye Blue Sky, Comfortably Numb, Vera, Nobody Home, Hey You og Is There Anybody Out There? láta mig fá gæsahúð við nánast hverja einustu hlustun, Það sem mér finnst svo skrítið er hvernig lög eins og Bring The Boys Back Home, jafnléleg og þau eru, hljóma vel í samhengi við í hin lögin á disknum. Hlustaðu á þau stök og þú hugsar, “hver semur svona vitleysu?” en um leið og þú heyrir allan diskinn skilurðu það. Þú… frelsast. Vá hvað þetta er góður diskur.
